Sophocles Zoullas is a globally recognized maritime leader and the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Zenith Shipping. With more than three decades at the helm of commercial shipping operations, Mr. Zoullas has executed over 100 vessel transactions, ordered more than 40 newbuilds, and raised in excess of $3 billion across banking, institutional equity, and public capital markets. He also founded and scaled multiple companies in the shipping market, most notably building and taking public on NASDAQ one of the world’s largest dry bulk fleets. Under his leadership, Zenith Shipping operates as a private, high-conviction maritime investment platform spanning crude tankers, product tankers, and bulk carriers and is known for decisive, cycle-timed strategies. He brings a unique insider’s perspective to robotics and applied AI, grounded in decades of real-world experience running safety-critical, high-throughput physical systems. This operational foundation makes him a credible and authoritative voice on how automation will reshape global shipping and heavy industry. His views are specifically relevant regarding the real deployment pathways, economic drivers, and industrial opportunities defining the next decade of physical AI integration. Mr. Zoullas also serves on the North American Advisory Committee of Lloyd’s Register, where he was Chairman for over a decade, and served for 18 years on the Board of the London P&I Club, two of the most influential institutions in global maritime governance.
