Michael Hurlston joined Lumentum as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2025, bringing more than three decades of leadership experience across semiconductors, optical communications, connectivity, and enterprise technology. Hurlston has led companies through periods of growth, transformation, and strategic transition. Before joining Lumentum, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Synaptics, Inc., where he guided a global technology business focused on intelligent sensing, connectivity, and human interface solutions. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Finisar Corporation, where he led the company through its agreement to be acquired by II-VI. Earlier in his career, Hurlston held senior leadership roles at Broadcom Limited and its predecessor company across sales, marketing, product management, and general management, including as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Mobile Connectivity Products/Wireless Communications and Connectivity Division. His experience spans the markets and technologies central to Lumentum’s future, from optical networking and compound semiconductors to high-performance connectivity and scaled global operations. He also brings deep public-company governance experience, serving on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Flex Ltd. and on the Board of Directors and Compensation Committee of Astera Labs, Inc. Hurlston is actively engaged with the University of California, Davis, where he serves on the Board of Executive Trustees of the UC Davis Foundation, the Dean’s Executive Committee for the College of Engineering, and the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Graduate School of Management. He holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from UC Davis.
