Building Africa’s AI Factory: Cassava, Rafay and the Platform for Sovereign AI
Date & Time

Description

Across Africa, the next wave of AI innovation comes from giving African enterprises, governments, developers and researchers the ability to build AI close to home — using local infrastructure, local data, local languages, and sovereign control.

Cassava Technologies and Rafay Systems are helping create that foundation. Through Cassava’s deployment of NVIDIA-powered AI Factories across Africa, beginning in South Africa and expanding into key markets including Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, and Morocco, the goal is to make advanced AI infrastructure available to the organizations and communities closest to Africa’s most important challenges. From healthcare and education to financial inclusion, agriculture, energy, and public services, sovereign AI has the potential to help African institutions build solutions designed for the continent’s realities.

But realizing that vision requires more than GPU capacity. The infrastructure must be made accessible, secure, governed, and scalable so that many users, teams, and organizations can consume it as trusted AI services. Rafay provides the operating layer that helps turn Cassava’s accelerated infrastructure into a production-grade AI Factory, with self-service access, APIs, multi-tenancy, workload isolation, lifecycle management, and support for services such as GPU-as-a-Service and AI-as-a-Service.

This session will tell the story of how Cassava and Rafay are working together to move Africa from AI consumer to AI creator. Attendees will hear the mission behind the initiative, the technology problem that had to be solved, and the vision for a continent-wide AI platform built on African infrastructure, African data, and African innovation.
